Real Property Tours completed the first 3D filming test on a prestigious Crown Estate property in Regents Park, London, just before Christmas.

Managing Director Lee Helliar said, "We've filmed a range of properties from £180k to £23million over the last eight years in 2D and wanted to see if 3D would bring a new visual dynamic to remote viewing, just because it's 3D it doesn't mean it's going to enhance the experience. So we decided to carry out a test filming using two different 3D set-ups and the first filming results are available for anyone to see on YouTube 3D".

Lee added "Cooper Rose kindly provided a property that would really test the camera and we've put together a selection of shots to show what works and what doesn't, you have to think differently when filming 3D to conventional 2D. Also, what you view it on is as important, we saw the initial results on a 65 inch Panasonic screen at Top Teks with active shutter glasses and the pictures were stunning, really leapt out at you, literally! Since then we've viewed the footage on YouTube 3D and you lose a lot of the 3 dimensional quality. People watching using coloured glasses need to make sure they are the right colour lenses, we've found that the public often use glasses they've picked up from the cinema which can end up losing all the 3 dimensional aspect as they have the wrong type of lenses. 3D can also be viewed on lenticular screens which require no glasses but you do need to stay a minimum distance away, this has obvious uses in agents window displays where this can be controlled."

Real Property Tours are now testing another 3D beam set up before offering two 3D filming packages to residential and commercial agents.

Richard Cornish of Cooper Rose commented on the marketing potential of 3D, "Viewing on 3D plasmas in developers showrooms and agents windows are obvious attractions with either branded glasses or 3D viewing without, on the latest lenticular screens. Online remote viewings are another marketing angle but recent news indicates that mobile phones will be one of the fastest growing viewing devices for 3D".

Lee commented "We've learned a lot from the initial filming about 3D and the next property test filming will mean we can push the equipment to deliver something really stunning, watch this space!"
